Hello Friends!

We are Allen and Carol Adams.  We have recently received the call from God to serve as missionaries in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.  We are currently living in Costa Rica and are completing our 3 month internship period here.

We are working with an organization called Alternative Missions along side other missionaries that are already at work in Puerto Viejo (Translates to Old Harbor).  They are currently running a skate park, hosting kids church, working on opening a music cafe/coffee shop, and hosting spanish and english house churches to help reach the people for Christ.  They are focused on building relationships and sharing the love and hope of Christ with them as they live life along side the locals.  This is an amazingly beautiful area that is unfortunately filled with drugs, prostitution, crime, and lack of purpose and is in desperate need of the hope, purpose, and freedom that is found through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

During our internship period, July 7th thru September 28th, we are figuring out how to live and function as a family in this somewhat remote and sketchy part of Costa rica.  We are also going through an internship process with the director and talking about how to best function as a team.  The discussions each week are based on the ideas in the book “The Five Dysfunctions Of A Team” by Patrick Lencioni.  This is not a Christian book, but it’s ideas are very good when trying to function as a healthy team.  We are also seeing what role we would best fit into on the team here when we come back long term.

We are extremely excited, honored, and humbled that God would want to use us in this way, and we look forward to seeing Him work as we walk forward in faith with what He has called us to do.
